Roleplaying Rules 1. Please avoid roleplay in chat talk, such as “r u ok? lol,” etc, etc. 2. Please keep posts on the long side. It’s frustrating to have a one-sentence reply to a five paragraph post. 3. This site is PG-13, but please don’t swear excessively. Keep in mind that words may be edited out. 4. Powerplaying is forbidden. (When you do something without giving your fellow roleplayer a chance to react) 5. Godmodding is also forbidden. (When you control your fellow roleplayer's character, or when you're impossible to defeat) 6. No baby making. It was common in those days, but nothing graphic, please. Keep in mind that this is a PG-13 site. 7. Please don’t stress your character by putting them in two places at one time. If it’s impossible in modern times, it was most definitely impossible in 16th century England.
Chatbox Rules 1. Spamming is forbidden. Please respect fellow site-users and yourself. 2. If you have a question, please PM me. Your question will get lost as people chat.
Avatars and Signatures 1. Vulgar language and graphic pictures are forbidden. This is a PG-13 site. 2. Please steer clear of big pictures in your signature. They have a tendency to annoy everybody else on the site. 3. Please put your character and their role in roleplay in your signature. Ex. “Henry VII – King” 4. Small poems, quotes, etc. are acceptable and encouraged.
Character Rules 1. Supernatural powers and manly female characters are forbidden. We’re trying to create an historically accurate site. 2. No peasants. This rule is in place to avoid complications. 3. In order to keep this site historically accurate, there is a limit in characters. Please don’t hog the characters; only four characters per person.
Death 1. If your character is not part of the royal family, you do not have to die when history says you do. 2. The staff will kill you at age 60 for historical accuracy. 3. By order of the king, your character can be executed. However, escape from the Tower can be planned. In this even, please refer plans to me before putting them into action. 4. Women often died in childbirth. Staff shall do random selections of women to die in childbirth.
Marriage and Birth (Female characters only) 1. Girls were usually married at 14. 2. Old maids are forbidden on this site, though you could arrange for a freak accident for your husband to die in. 3. Parents decided who their daughters married. Marriage was a political decision; land, dowry, and title were reasons for marriage, not love. 4. Your character’s first child will come around age 16, with a nursery full to come afterwards. Contact me if you really don’t want children. 5. Babies died often. Staff shall do random selections of babies to die. 6. The child’s parents will decide upon the child’s stats.
Historical Facts to Keep in Mind 1. Adultery was common, especially in men. 2. Ladies-in-waiting to the queen would read to her, dance, play cards, or sew at the queen’s request. 3. Men would go hunting, play cards, or flirt with the ladies in the queen’s chambers, at the king’s request. 4. Special occasions include jousts, feasts, bear baiting, and masques. 5. Every summer the court goes on a “trip” to castles around the country. This served to entertain the court and to drain lords of money in order to prevent challenges to the king. 6. Please search appropriate clothing for your character. No skimping, or you’ll become the laughingstock of the court. 7. The king has almost absolute power. He can award anyone a dukedom of a castle on this website. He can have everybody beheaded if he wanted to. However, if you’re king, please don’t kill all your subjects. It wouldn’t be any fun if you did.
Plot 1. The plot is to stay alive at court and keep your head firmly connected to your shoulders. 2. Men go to war sometimes, and women fight over men. 3. Because of the nature of fights, some people will get left out. Subplots will be created to keep everybody away from the Boredom Monster. 4. There are eight underlined letters. When put in order you will find a word beginning with "M". Please put this word in the "codeword" area in your character creation post.
